HOT BEND

Hot bending is a controlled method employed to bend pipes by applying localized heating through the use of high-frequency induced electrical power. Originally developed for surface hardening of steels, when applied to pipe bending, induction technology primarily involves placing an induction coil around the pipe to be bent. The induction coil heats a specific circumferential section of the pipe to a temperature ranging between 850 and 1100 degrees Celsius, depending on the material being shaped. Once the appropriate bending temperature is achieved, the pipe is slowly passed through the induction coil while a fixed-radius arm arrangement applies the bending force.

Speed, local heat, and cooling collaborate synergistically to facilitate the bending of even larger profiles.
