ORIFICE FLANGE

Orifice flanges are essential for measuring fluid flow in pipelines using flow nozzles. They feature pressure tappings, eliminating the need for separate wall tapings. This assembly includes flanges, an orifice plate, bolts, nuts, gaskets, jacking screws, and plugs for easy element removal. When assembled during pipeline connections, it’s called an orifice flange amalgamation, mainly used for metering gas or liquid flow. Orifice flanges are placed in a straight pipe section to minimize turbulence near the plate. Typically, they require ten pipe diameters upstream and five downstream for optimal performance. Orifice flanges are commonly paired with orifice meters for precise fluid flow measurement, especially for oil and gas pipelines. Standard assembly components include gaskets, nuts, bolts, plugs, plates, flanges, and jacking screws, simplifying the removal of the primary flow element.
